Bo Williams Swing Machine
The traditional big band of the thirties and forties consisted of 5 saxes, 3 trombones, 4 trumpets and a full rhythn section with piano, guitar, bass and drums - 16 pieces. Bo Williams wrote arrangements and charts for reduced-size big bands, typically 3 saxes, 2 bones, two trumpets and piano, bass and drums - ten pieces (plus conductor makes for eleven.)
This album was recorded in two locations - Monterey and San Jose - and mixed in LA. Considering the size of the band, it is an extremely full sound. The vocals are divided among several artists, depending on style.
Enjoy these tracks. The CD is no longer available easily, but if you are interested, send me an email, I will try and find a copy for you.
In case you don't already know....
Several Monterey area vocalists were selected for this album, here are the songs by Dino.
